This position is designed to develop competences in integrated fundraising and e-Philanthropy as well as exposing the incumbent the cutting edge of fundraising. The Fundraising Consultant is responsible for providing high-level support to the CEO, and consultant team in all aspects of their work. This individual will, under the guidance of more senior staff manage and coordinate fundraising programs for clients. This position encompasses many aspects of e-philanthropy: from online fundraising, to text messaging campaigns, to e-appeals, direct mail, and legacies.
We are looking for an individual who is interested in integrative fundraising and/or e-philanthropy and who is planning or has begun a career in fundraising. The successful candidate and excels will be a team player with superior communications - both written and oral as well as strong interpersonal skills. A fast learner, with a desire to develop new skills - the individual will be exposed to new techniques and trained in new media environment. Necessary qualities for this position include excellent time management skills, the ability to multi-task and a tolerance for a fast paced environment. A focus on customer benefit - to excel at providing benefit to internal and external parties is essential.
General Responsibilities
This position entails, but is not limited to:
- Liaises with clients to create online and integrated processes, schedules, campaigns and programs.
- Ensures that online and integrated processes, schedules, campaigns and programs are implemented, coordinated, maintained, and executed according to time and budget.
- Leads the strategy, concept development and execution of online, integrated, and interactive campaigns.
- Liaises with internal stakeholders to consult on online, integrated and interactive processes, schedules, campaigns and programs.
- Develops and maintains a network of vendors, technology providers and agencies to assist and implement campaigns and projects.
- On an ongoing basis, analyzes campaign strategies and programs and measures the effectiveness of online mediums.
- Does reporting or consults with clients on how to do reporting on online and integrated campaigns and programs, including the implementation and use of web analytics, tracking, costs, results, and response.
- Advocate e-philanthropy to management, executive, and broader organization.
- Establish self as functional expert with solid understanding of best practices, quality objectives, and project needs for online campaigns.
- Works closely with internal stakeholders, as well as client vendors and other stakeholders.

- Liaises and builds relationships with various internal and external stakeholders to create, support, and implement program goals.
- Manages multiple relationships through diplomacy, influence, information, value-added expertise and facilitation.

- Provide deliverables in a timely manner as appropriate for program initiatives and internal objectives.

- Facilitates and enhances fundraising and advocacy efforts on a professional level and shares specialized knowledge, sources, experience, concepts, and skills.

Knowledge and Skills Requirements
- Proven fundraising/advocacy or marketing experience
- General marketing knowledge
- Segmentation and measurement knowledge
- Excellent verbal communication skills
- Proven ability to advocate and negotiate (both internally and externally)
- Strong written communication skills
- Superb team building skills
- Ability to quickly apply new learnings in a professional capacity as a consultant
- Creative problem solving abilities
- Project leadership skills (from concept to post-campaign analysis)
- Analytical skills must be exceptional
- High organizational capacity
- Must apply multiple tactics to build and retain loyalty using online communications
- Implicit ability to manage client expectations
- Up to date knowledge of new media
- Ideally recent knowledge of interactive media
- Must be a regular and comfortable user of the internet, online social networks (Facebook, Hyves, YouTube), social bookmarking (Digg, Delicious)
- High comfort level with the internet and creation of web content
- Must be interested in perpetual learning and taking webinars and online courses, and doing independent knowledge-building
- The incumbent is expected to build internal capacity, develop new guidelines, procedures and processes to ensure efficiency and effectiveness.
Nice to have:
- Knowledge of how to drive web traffic
- Understanding customer service / loyalty, brand building
Experience and Education
- BA in Liberal Arts/Humanities field
- 1+ years of direct response marketing or 1+ years of progressively responsible professional work experience in fundraising development or advocacy and campaign management
- Some knowledge of web design and web marketing
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Nice to have experience with eCRM nonprofit software such as Convio/Kintera/NetCommunity/Artez/AKA Raisin
Work Environment
- Willingness to work flexible hours to accommodate periods of pressure
- Occasional travel may be required
